Dell T3500 Blinking Amber 1-3 (4x) issue

Ok thank you everyone for the feedback! I am taking a leap of faith and hoping that it is the power supply that is causing this. One more question, Can I fit in any power supply into the T3500 or do I need to use the specific model (6W6M1)?

Ok the problem IS the power supply. I bought a replacement which in itself I had a few problems receiving and the cost was astronomical.. Anyways all in all the power supply is the problem, thank you everyone for helping with your responses!:emotion-2:

Is your new power supply still working? I've had the same problem 3 times. Each time Dell replaces it with a refurbished PS which inevitably fails after a few months. My computer is once again doing the 1-3 blink and I want to fix the problem for good. Where did you purchase your PS and what brand/model number was it?

I agree that there is a big problem with the power supply on the T3500 and there should be a recall. We have replaced around 20 power supplies on the T3500. Sometimes 2-3 times on the same machine with Dell refurbished power supplies. We were curious in our office and decided to see if you could tell what component in the power supply failed.

After opening up the power supply there is a board soldered in on the side that is the reason for failure. It's real crispy!

The model # for the Power Supply is D525AF-00

If you have the blinking 1 and 3's, replace the power supply with Dell Model # H525EF-00. It has a different design than the original model that comes with the T3500.

I just replaced my power supply because I had the same symptoms as OT.  I opened the old one, and it has exactly the same damage as yours.  I don't even need to take a picture.

This is a little late in coming but it is indeed the power supply. I have traced the problem to a 3300 micro farad  capacitor in the power supply. it bursts.

Get  a new power supply, any standard 500W or better will do. I am also planning on fixing the power supply.

I have the same problem a t3500 with 1-3 blinking then it dies after a few seconds. Could someone clarify if its necessary to use a dell psu or I can replace it with any other?

I would not buy a dell power supply, I used a standard PS make sure to get a new one with the 8 pin psi connector. That is a standard in power supply

now. A 550 Watts is good enough.

do you mean you did run a 3500 with a standard power supply ? My local maintenance service insists in buying a genuine Dell and it seems to be hard for them to find it.

 I used a Corsair CX600M and it woks just fine except that there is obviously not any Dell selftest button on it there is on the standard issue and you'll get a lot of unused cables from the old psu cables  inside if you dont cut them off.

Do not listen to that. I used off the shelf power supply, there is a small gap because the power supply is a bit 

Smaller, but aside from that I'm a happy camper. It works. $35.00 did the trick.
