Dell XPS ONE 24 - Hard Drive Noise?

I recently purchased a Dell XPS ONE 24 and while I love the machine....it has one annoying issue. There is a buzzing and squeaking whenever the hard drive is being accesssed. It ranges from a subtle buzzing to quite loud at times. Calls to tech support have resulted in them doing nothing but updating the bios (the same update on three different calls). Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal for this machine? Any and all input would be appreciated.

I have the same issue.  I love the XPS One but I have that noise.  I woudl describe it as a "whining" or almost a wheezing sound.  The sound is subtle my only concern is it's a sign of trouble to come in the future.

I have not yet contact Dell support about this but I am keeping a close eye on the noise becuase it is a concern.

I have a question for someone.  At first I had ordered an Studio XPS.  Since it was around Christmas, it took too long and I canceled.  I'm now considering the XPS ONE top of the line which has 4 gb of ram.  I noticed that it apparently only comes with a 32 bit version of Vista.  Since that will only recognize up to 3 GB of ram I am wondering why they are selling up to 4 GB.

I was going to try the XPS ONE but if it's only a 32 bit  I think I'll pass.  Now I'm reading about other issues on here that you all are having and wondering what to do.  I'm not a gamer, but I want a quiet, compact,  and very capable system for entertainment and the occasional flight simulator game.  A system which of course is dependable and will NOT need to be replaced at least for four years.

Thanks!

Steve
