Dell XPS One 24" screen

I have got an Dell XPS One 24" screen all in one system, it went into standby, and now will not boot :-(

When you press the power button, the touch sensors on the right side of the screen are blue and beep

when you touch them and the sensor to bring the display back, but nothing happens. the power button

should light up blue, but this is still off and the fans are not running.

A) Is this a power issue, or something else ?

B) If a power issue are the power supplies in the Dell XPS one 20" the same as the ones in the 24" ?

C) Is there another problem with the system ?

Thanks for your input guys :-)

Les.

Hi Les,

The power button light is a bi-color light that indicates the Dell™ XPS One™ A2420 power state as indicated below:

Power State Power Light
S0 - Normal operating state (On) Blue
S1 - Light Sleep
S3 - Sleep/Standby Blinking Blue
S4 - Hibernate / Suspend to Disk Off
S5 - Off
Boot Failure Amber

The top four media control buttons to the right of the display also act as diagnostic lights, to help you troubleshoot problems. When the computer starts normally, the lights flash. After the computer starts, all four lights display solid blue.

If the computer malfunctions, the media control buttons that light up identify the problem. The patterns or codes on the lights change as the boot process completes. If the POST portion of system boot completes successfully, all four lights display blue. If the computer malfunctions during the POST process, the pattern displayed may help identify where in the process the computer halted.

System Beep Codes

The Dell™ XPS One™ A2420 can emit a series of beeps during start-up if the display cannot show errors or problems. These series of beeps, called beep codes, identify various problems.

  1. 3 means 3-3-3-3… That is 3 beeps and 3 beeps and …: Endless looping until user presses the power button to shut down the system.
  2. The delay between each beep is 300ms, The delay between each set of beeps is 3 sec, The beep sound last 300ms.
  3. After each beep and each set of beeps, the BIOS should detect if the user presses the power button, if so, BIOS will jump out from looping and execute the normal shutdown process and power system

We need to diagnose and determine the exact reason of the problem which could be due to an internal component failure or even an external device conflicting with the system.

Please let me know the status of the diagnostic lights and number of beeps you hear so that I am able to assist you better.

Thanks and regards,
Babita S

Hi,

Just tried it again tonight :-(

Press the power button to switch on the XPS one, there is no beep.

The LED is not lit on the power button.

there is only one blue light on the far right bottom of the screen" the blue

light you would press to wake up the display". when you press it, it just

makes a beeping sound. Above where the other controls are, when you touch

them you also get a beeping sound.

Hope the info helps.

regards

Les.
