Desparate help needed on error "missing windows\system32\config\system"
When I turn on my computer I received error message " misisng windows\system32\config\system" hit r in set up disc to repair.
When I put in my set up disc it goes ot the same message. I can hit f8 and get into menu but no matter what I choose it goes backt to the same message. I can also get into the set up menu on f12 but again no matter what I do the same message.
Unfortunately my son was in the process of doing his college essay's and appliclationw which are on the computer as we speak.
If there is a way to to get at least the essay off word and then how to wipe out my drive to start again.
Any ideas is appreciated,

Once you return the drive to the original system, power up, F12, Dell diagnostics, extended test, hard drive. The most common cause of the error is a failing hard drive.
