DirectDraw Error Message on Start-up
Hope someone can help...
I recently bought a new XPS Gen 4 (love it!!) but am preparing my old Dimension XPS R400 for sale to a friend. After deleting the files in my Downloads folder, the video looks like Safe Mode on start-up, and I get this error message:
Microsoft DirectDraw:
"You must be running in 256 color mode or higher. You can
change the color depth from the control panel display icon"
When I go into Display and try to change the settings to 256, it then restarts, then goes right back to the 16 colors it was running before I tried to change it.
I have an ATI Radeon 64 MB DDR video card. Did I delete a driver?
No Events found!

* Download DirectX 9.0c
* Click "[Click here to Download]"
* Click Save- Desktop- Save
* Double-click the file. Restart the system when done installing

Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner, but I've been out of town...
Reinstalling DirectX didn't work...I'm stumped again!!
Anyone else have any idea? Looks like I'm sending this old system back to Dell for recycling instead of selling it...
