E support Button

I did a complete re-install on my Dell 8100 because of some problems with System Restore, Add/Remove, and .DLL error messages. Since I completed it I get the following message every time I start my computer: Windows cannot connect to the E support button hardware. You can still access E-support by double clicking the desktop icon. If restarting your system does not clear this problem, you can repair it with E-support. Detail: Create Instance Enum[] failed. I called Tech. support, they could not help. I do not have an E-support Icon on my desktop.....I have one on the taskbar, lower right. I thought I heard somewhere that Resolution Assistant was no longer.....is this true? And, I'd like to know why Dell could not help me with this problem. Does anybody know what I should do? I find this forum to be a wealth of information and look here first now before I wait on the phone for a technician! thank you....

What I would suggest is going to the Dell Download site and download the Dell Solution Center. This is the replacement for the resolution assistant. But first I would uninstall resolution assistant before installing the Dell Solution Center. Yes, resolution assistant has been dropped and the Dell Solution Center has the driver for the E button support. I did a reinstall of Windows Me also but only had a yellow flag in device manager for unkown device. I Installed the Dell Solution Center and solved that problem.

Thank you for your response. I went to the Download site and for some reason cannot locate the solution center download. Also, I only have an icon on my taskbar for Res. Assistant and not on my desktop. Where do I go and what is the proper way to uninstall properly? add/remove? I don't want to do the wrong thing. Thanks for your help. P.S. Why doesn't Dell tell us these things?
