Which password are you trying to get past? If this is the windows password then you are stuck but you should try the windows boards for information. If it is the BIOS password then you can try removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard and leaving it out for about 30 minutes to an hour and see if that helps.

Boot into safe mode (F8 at startup).  The administrator password by default is blank.  If by chance it is not, and you don't remember it, you're likely out of luck - best bet would be to install another drive, remove that one, and reinstall Windows, and then connect the old drive and copy your data.

I know this is a late reply to this message, but is the password hidden somewhere in the bios?

Renee7707, which password are you attempting to get rid of...... the BIOS password at bootup or the Windows log-in password?   If it is the BIOS password then check your other posting as I provided an answer there.

You know I thought it was the BIOS, but it's the Admin password so I can access my son's computer and load software. His XP doesn't give a windows password, it goes right to the users?

Renee7077, since the problem is with the operating system, you would be better off posting in the Software - Windows XP forum.  Possibly someone knows of a way to get around the Adminstrator password.  If not then you are stuck with the answer Ejn63 provided earlier in this posting.
