Getting error on shutdown

I have a Dimension XPS T600 running Win 98 se during shutdown I get this error stating "Cannot Install Service Vectors" along with press any key to continue, as I do this the system shuts down fine and I have no problems booting up either. This occurs everytime during shutdown. I see no other problems with the system operation at this time. Any suggestion on how to resolve this little bug or maybe it is a big bug????

Hi Johnm,

I think , and bear with me it was a while ago. If you have the SoundBlaster Live value sound card, go to Device Manager and double click Creative Miscellaneous Devices. Then double click Creative SB16 Emulation. At the bottom check disable hardware profile. Then restart computer. It will not harm anything because it is a sound Emulator for Dos Games. You can always uncheck it.

Much thanks for your input Dave, it worked!!! any idea what would have caused this problem in the first place? I have not played around with any settings, programs, registrys etc.

Thanks Again!!

Hi John,

If i recall, it was AOL and the sound card that did not get along. I have a XPS T also, and made the config change years ago. Althouth i was using Ver5.0 then and we're at 8.0 now i never tried unchecking disable. Other then having to see the Red X in device manager i forgot about it. O well glad i could help!!
