Inspiron 24 7459 All-in-One random shut down

My three-month-old Inspiron 24 shuts down (no response from mouse, keyboard or touch screen) but the power light stays on. When I long press the power button to try to shut it down completely, the light turns red. I have to pull the power cord, wait a minute and then power back up, after which it seems fine. This has occurred three times in the last week.

Is it hardware or a software issue?

Could be either.  If you are still under warranty, give Tech Support a call so you can troubleshoot with them.  Thanks.

I will but don't have the time today. I've read about issues with some power supplies but cannot find the code for a red power button.

Does the light go off after some time even when it's shut down?

If it does then it's probably part of Windows 8 or 10 with fast startup, my PC does the same but it doesn't last that long, and I think you mean the orange light of death because there is no red light installed in the power switch.

Wait for the power light to go completely off, if you keep on unplugging it then you could cause more damage to the hardware, if you still have issues then I would just call Technical support. Even better if you have premium warranty because they can send a technician to your house to repair the PC's hardware for free.

I've actually not gotten to the point that the light would have gone out, I usally have either pushed the power button, at which point it turned 'red' I believe, or have pulled the cord. It has not 'shut down' for well over a month now but if it does I will check this.

in for fan replacement now. I am hopeful. This is the 2nd time I had to send the unit back to the factory. I notice the model is disontinued... never a good sign for those who's need it fit.
