Inspiron 530 graphics card for less than $100

I'm looking for a graphics card for around or less than $100 that will fit into the Inspiron 530 tower.

I'm pretty sure I have the 300 watt PSU, so that is a concern as well. I'm just looking for an upgrade over the Intel chipset that comes with it and I need something not too expensive that will fit into the tower without requiring a PSU upgrade. Thanks!

much better than the onboard, and it will free up system ram, and it will play most of todays games at avg settings.

Just make sure you have 2 free 4-pin molex connectors or you can just buy a splitter etc.

I want to thank both of you for your help.

Are you sure these will fit into my Inspiron 530? I made the mistake of buying a card that didn't, and as a result I'm out $60.

So, I just want to make sure this time. Thanks again.

The nVidia 8600GT has been spoken about on the old forums quite a lot in the past, as a good card fot an 530 because of the 530 PSU. The GTS version I dont know about.

an 8600GT or GTS will work. An 8800GT works fine on a dell 305w psu. so either will work in your setup.

What about this video card with the standard E4600. It's the  ASUS EAH3450.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121259

It will work fine. Just dont play any high end games and expect high res with good fps.  But for lower games, movies etc etc it will be fine. I assume by E4600 you mean the CPU...

Yes, the CPU type. I wish it had the Q6600.

What low profile video card would be suitable that you can play high res video with good fps AND won't require a PSU upgrade?

Why low-profile?   the 530 takes full height cards

**or apparently i guess you have the SLIM "s" version ?

If you need an LP for a slim (530s)

probably the best low profile card to work with your PSU.

and this bracket kit should work too.

Thanks. It's a slim case.  The $90 video card is overkill for my sister's needs (watching HD movies).  I talked to one of the NCIX guys and he's against these low profile cards where you have to modify them.  He even went so far to advise me to buy one from Dell or find the exact brand and model they carry and he'll order it.  Failing that he said, bring in the PC and they'll see what cards will fit in it.  Of course, power consumption would/could be an issue.
