Memory Compatibility for Dimension 8250

Hi...goku2100 as you have bought 3.06 chip have you checked if it the right one?

# You could have bought a duff cpu tho - look for any missing pins/metal strips
where they incert into the motherboard socket.

The chip set for a Dimm 8250 is : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.06GHz Northwood
Mother board socket: 478 cpu (correct me if i'm wrong)


As like you i own a Dim 8250 from new with a 3.06 chip installed, as for memory goku2100 all 8250's where shipped with p1066 memory hence with 3.06 processer.

You can use p800 memory but you would be taking a cut in speed (with 3.06 cpu) but that memory was shipped with the lower processer if i remember right - 2.8 cpu i think.

Plus if wondering or thinking about it changing the memory out with other types, i'm sorry to say you can only use p800/p1066 in dim's 8200/8250 ok.

B/T/W goku2100 p1066 memory is not cheap to buy ok thus p800 is a little cheaper tho.You need non EEC memory ok - that what dell shipped the dim 8200/8250 out with even tho it say different in the instruction booklet - most of the times.
