Memory stick not recognized by PC

Hi all,

My Dell 64MB memory stick isn't being recognized by my Dell PC (note that I bought them together). It works fine on my Dell laptop at work. I have tried it in all three of my USB ports, and I know the ports work, because my iPod works in them. The memory stick appears to be getting "power", as the light comes on, but when I look for the drive to access the information on it, it doesn't show up. I've tried rebooting my computer, but nothing happens. Any ideas?????? It's pretty annoying that I can't do what I need a memory stick to do: allow me to bring work back and forth between office and home.

Thanks for any advice anyone can give.

Hi

Need more info, your computer model and operating system used.  Some Operating Systems need drivers for the USB Storage Device to work correctly.  Also are you sure its not there.  Some times its not easy to see.  It usually says Removable Disk or Udisk, or USB Storage Device etc etc.

Hi Vince. It's a Dell Dimension 4800 running Windows XP. The memory stick has worked on this computer before, but not reliably, and I have had problems in the past when I tried to stop and eject it. It absolutely is not showing up with a drive letter or anything.

Hi

Have you tried another USB Memory Key in your computer to see if it has the same problem ?   have you tried your Memory key in another computer to see the the same symptoms occur in that computer.  Might be a weak or bad memory key.

It works fine in my laptop at work (also a Dell), so I don't think it's a problem with the memory key. For some reason, my desktop just doesn't like it.
