Memory Upgrade Problem - Dimension 3000
My son-in-law's Dell Dimension 3000 came with 1 Gbyte memory. I tried to replace the two 512 Kbyte memory cards with two 1 Gbyte cards. I bought what Crucial Memory scan suggested (it said 2 Gbyte is maximum).
When I replaced cards, computer beeps high-pitched noice on start-up attempt and stops. Is there a BIOS setting or motherboard dip switch that I am not aware of?
Original memory: 3.00 GHz, 2.99 Ghz did I write down incorrectly?
New memory: 400 Mhz 128MX4 (this doesn't match ?)
Thanks for any help!

I would first try to reinstall the new memory and see if that fixes it.
If not, I would reinstall the old memory and see if that is still ok. If not, then you have a new problem.
If the old memory works, but not the new memory, then try the new memory one module at a time.
