.net framework needed for XP drivers on e8400 (Optiplex 960)?

Hello,

For an XPSP3 downgrade reinstall, it seems necessary to install .net 3.0 for the video drivers and .net 3.5 or 4 for the Chipset PCI serial drivers (SOL/LMS). Is this correct? Hate to add the overhead of 2 versions of .net for simple driver functionality.

Thanks,

Dan

When you chose to download, did you select the Dell Download Manager?   The manager requires .net, but most drivers don't.    Usually we recommend never to select the manager  - always choose the second browser option.

Once you select it, though, Dell sets it as a default.   To get rid of the "download manager" option,  clear all the cookies and temp files in your browser, then go back to the driver page and select the browser download.   Alternatively, try a different browser.

Thanks for the reply,

Browser option was used so .Net definately required by the drivers.  Never saw the benefit to the download manager.

Ignored .Net request for Chipset PCI serial driver (SOL/LMS) and install seemed to complete normally. Install without  .Net fixed error in hardware driver window.  Functionality provided by this driver is not needed (far as I can tell) so I don't know if it is working without the .Net but really don't care.  Just wanted the XP hardware report to show no errors.

.Net is definately required for the only onboard video driver control program, Intel Media Accelerator driver (R279349), listed by Dell driver download for XP on Optiplex 960.
