No Disc in the Drive E

When I try to burn CD in Drive E Dimension 9150 I keep getting message - "No disc in the drive". Looks like quite a number of people had this problem. Any sure fix? I am now using an external cd burner. Hope this is not the solution.

Uninstall the drive in the Device Manager, then restart the PC and Windows will find and reinstall the drive.  That seems to fix a lot of varied problems.  To access the Device Manager, hold the Windows key down and then press the Pause/Break key.

Welcome to the forums Archie :emotion-21:

What OS are you using - since it might be important regarding specific answers?

In the meantime... post # 4 in this Club CD Freaks suggests:

... going to Device Manger and ensuring that DVD/CD-ROM Drives, IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, and IDE Channels are all configured correctly?

Also ensure that your IDE Channels are in the DMA mode?

That same post links to/suggests trying the advice offering in post # 4 of this forums thread?

Try those, and see if you have any better luck with blank discs?

Thanks for your response. Using Wiindows XP Home Edition.  Problem drive is HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GWA4164B. Uninstalled and reboot did not solve the problem.  IDE in the DM mode.
