NO SOUND FROM R FRONT SPEAKER--HELP

Hi, i have a Dell Dimension 4600 with a 5.1 surround sound set up but i have no sound coming out of my R Front speaker. I have checked all the conections according to the diagram in the documentation that came with the speakers. Is there a way i can get the sound coming out again??
When i run tests using the diagnostics the computer thinks the R Front Speaker is the L Speaker. So during the etsts the L Speaker picks up two signals so the tests come out as fine with no problems

P.S. The speakers are Altec Lansing ADA995 although i don't think it's the speakers, it has something to do with the speakers.

 Help would be appreciated
 Thanks

Sounds like one of your mini stereo plugs is not fully seated.

Your symptoms are an exact match to this problem.

Hope this helps, Steve.

The plugs are the part that unplug from the speakers and from the computer. They are  on the ends of cables you bought or that came with the kit. Sometimes they are defective. There is a metal flang at the cable end of the 1/8" tip which is NOT supposed to covered with rubber. I just found this very problem on my system last night. Trim off the rubber which is covering the flang if there is any.  The process of removing and reinserting all of them for this inspection will probably fix your problem.

Cheers, Steve.
