Optiplex 745 Memory Error

I have an Optiplex 745 running a Core2 Quad Q6600 at 2.4ghz and when I tried to upgrade the ram to a 4gb dual channel set. I get a buzzing error when trying to turn the system on. I verified they are in the right memory slots and its weird because when I put my single channel 2gb chip back in, it works fine. The ram i am trying to install is DDR2 PC5300 (667mhz) 4gb dual channel. Please help !!!!

Thanks

single-channel: 256 MB

Yes it is NON-ECC ram. Its the Patriot PSD24G667KH 4gb (2x2gb) ram kit.

http://www.patriotmemory.org/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=3&catid=2&prodgroupid=37&id=604&type=1

This has gotten me real frustrated because I returned the first set thinking the ram was bad but this set is doing the same thing.

I am able to get video and work perfect with my single channel 2gb chip but this 4gb set is not working. So any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

It may be the finicky chipset intel Q965.  I have the Optiplex 745c with the same chipset.  I've read through some ram reviews that the Q965 doesn't work well with certain ram.  It wants 1.8v ram only.

Intel does have a list of approved ram that will work with their chipsets:

http://www.intel.com/technology/memory/ddr/valid/ddr2_667_dram_results.htm

I myself decided against going for any "gamer" ram and went with intel validated Kingston Value Ram.

DDR2 800Mhz 1 G X 4...no probs...
