processor fan = 0 rpm

hello everyone ,
 
  i m using c2d e6400 2.13 ghz with intel dg965wh mobo system , recently i downloaded intel desktop utility from intel , and lately discover that my cpu fan was indicated as slowed / stopped in desktop utility   ( but physically , fan is spinning ) .
 
the shop who sold me said because my casing doesnt have the connector for that cpu fan .
are they telling the truth ???
 
 anyone can help me ?   thanks 
 
( can i post my screen shot onto here for better reference ??       how to do that ??)

No telling what all they put in that box.  Tach fans have a third wire and output a 5V square wave at the fan rotation rate.  It's up to the motherboard designer to implement Intel's fan monitoring utility--or not.  Meanwhile, if the fan is spinning I wouldn't worry excessively about software saying it isn't.
