Nobody can help because you didnt give any information at all.

No model number

No Serial number aka the Service tag barcode on the back.

No Os version.

Any hardware changes.

to reset nvram depending on the system type is usually ALT + E.

as for your other prob you will need to give us other information.

1. system type
2. chassis type - usff, sff, dtop, twr
3. pwr led colour
4. diagnostic lights status
5. type of OS
6. at what stage does the screen go blank
7. when was the system purchased

if your system happens to be sx270, gx270/280 - have you checked for swollen caps (the little black cylinders on the mobo, they should be flat on top)? if they arent: -
have you run ide drive diagnostics (F12 at dell splash screen, hard disk diags)?
have you tested the memory in another system or at least rmoved it to check for beep codes and also to check the diagnostic leds?
are all fans spinning?
