Resolution problem - New WXGA+ monitor and NVIDIA GE Force2 MX/ MX400

I've a Dimension 8100 (bought in 2001) running Win ME with an NVIDIA GE Force 2 MX /MX400 graphics card.  I bought a new flat panel Acer X193W monitor recently.  This has a resolution of 1440 x 900 (WXGA+).   This resolution isn't an option on the GE Force card's setup (even with the newest driver).  I'm presently using it at 1280 x 800.  As a result, the display image is poor.

The PC is dual boot with Linux and Win ME.  Linux allows the NVIDIA card to provide correct resolution giving an excellent image.

Does anyody know if there is a way of forcing the graphics card to provide the correct resolution, possibly by editing the registry?  .... KW

Have you tried useing the properties/setting/screen res sometimes the video card graphics set does not include all Screen setting available to your monitor .
also your card does it even support that high of a Res ?
I noticed you said it work in Linux so even though it might not support it it works .
Try the properties(from desktop)/setting/screen res this should let you set it to any RES .
