SndVol32.exe
Does anyone know where I can find and download this Volume Mixer file? Is it even available as a standalone file from Microsoft...If I google SndVol32.exe I keep getting registry cleaners and at least in one case entire Windows XP and WindowsVista applications totallin over 60MB bytes. I only want to buy a part not the whole hardware store.

What Model PC? What Operating System? We can't give you specific assistance without this.
However, if you have XP, HERE is the Microsoft article on how to extract that from the Windows XP instlalation CD.

Sorry Firebird....Dell Inspiron 530s...Vista OS. Is it possible that SndVol32.exe is only available on XP and not on Vista? If that is the case what is the equivalent Volume Mixer panel on Vista? My specific problem is that I am trying to attach the audio cable of an analog capture device to my pc and I am not sure what port it should go to for Line In....On Control Panel/Sound/Recording tab for Line In...it says 'Not Plugged in' .... WHAT is not plugged in? If I put the audio cable in the port...or any of the other five color -coded ports I still do not get a sound connection. Only one port is in use....the green port for speakers. I have been able to get a video connection and can see the video from the vhs (on my pc ) but NOT the audio. The vendor tries to help but is in Taiwan and his English is not good and that makes it very difficult for me to follow his instructions. That is why I am appealing for help here. The device by the way is DVDMaker USB2.0. Please advise.

If you have a USB connected interface unit then you connect the audio cable to that unit, not to the regular Line In port on the PC. The USB device becomes the input device and if it's software should automatically select the USB device but if it doesn't you will have to manually do that in the Control Panel. I have a DVDXpress USB connected device for inputting Video and it has the jacks for the stereo audio connection, along with the video connection. When I use the supplied DVDXpress "recording" software I get both video and audio.
On the 530S the BLUE jack is the "line in".
There is one issue on Vista, and I don't know if it's ever been corrected, you can record from the line in but you can't monitor (hear) the input audio on the PC's speakers.
This becomes a different issue than just the sndvol problem. HERE is a Microsoft article about it and Vista. If the DVDMaker software is not 100% Vista it could be causing the problem.
