Spyware How Many

Question

Its best two have more than one spyware tool installed in ones computer. I have 4   1 Spyware Doctor 2 Trend Anti Spyware 3 Windows Defender 4 Ashampoo Anti Spyware   What one misses the other one finds   ATD

I just use spybot in addition to the one built into my security suite...   4 though? just for spyware? thats a bit overkill dont ya think?

It is mentioned that using more than one will be beneficial in catching spyware that other programs may not catch.  I've read that you can have over two spyware programs running and not hurt anything.  I have two myself

I just use Adaware. Spybot kept on glitching when I tried to use it and just was a pain. Never had a single problem with spyware or viruses.   I use Norton Internet Security 2004 as well.

Anyone ever tried the versions of Adaware you have to pay for? I've only tried the free version and that's been great and good enough. Still curious as to what the other versions offer thou. Message Edited by Baowoulf on 03-09-2006 03:06 PM

Heya, I think they all have good merits, however I like Sunbelt Counterspy. Any of these programs will work fine, you just need to find the one which suits your needs. Guardian

Maybe I don't need any... but I use 2 regularly; AdAware & Webroot. However, there's a nice feature included in my Pop-Up Stopper Professional(had it since before SP2). There's a 'Clean Browser' option, where you save whichever cookies you want, but all others plus your temporary internet files are deleted with a click. It just takes a few seconds to perform the clean-up. I then run my spyware, alternating nights, and neither ever finds anything - unless I forget to do the clean up first.

When you go onto the internet, you will attract spyware.  Lots and lots of spyware.  If you get spyware on your system, it will slow the computer down to say the least.  Always have a spyware program on the computer

Absolutely! Spyware appears after simply opening my home page. My computer is as peppy, clean, and healthy as can be. It's just that no matter which spyware I've scanned with, that  'Clean Browser' function clears them out first. But I still scan, assuming nothing.

Some key things to keep in mind with Spyware.   If you use broadband service you are being fed spyware the moment you connect the cable to the modem and start getting data.   Always assume you have spyware on the system at the end of the day and run a scan.   Spyware will get into the registry, your startup, the browser add-ons, etc.   Spyware will slow your system down, almost to a crawl.   Spyware can also affect networking and even a wireless connection.   Spyware can inhibit your PDA connections.   This can go on and on.   All spyware programs are good and each brings to the table a unique feature others do not have.   The key thing is to have some type of spyware inhibiting software on the computer. If you do then you have a good chance of not experiencing some of the issues I mentioned above.   Guardian
