T5500 cpu upgrade
Hi,
I realise a couple weeks ago that i could upgrade my T5500 Workstation with X5680 to replace my e5620. I have the mobo 0CRH6C so according to my reading it should accept the x56xx series.
Now I have to get a riser for the second cpu, Dell gave me PN H236F but doing some research I found that H236F was for T7500 and F623F is for T5500. Is there a difference between them? Im confuse since Dell technical support gave me PN H236F...
Is it some pn duplication like the high effective heatsink pn U016F, W344F & W567 which all look to be similar.
One lasth thing, am I missing something or those X5680 will work great on my T5500?
Thanks

It's only for the second CPU. There must be a CPU installed on the mainboard, or the system won't boot.

Greetings Slabonte,
Thank you for your question.
F623F is the correct Processor Riser part number for your T5500.
F623F for T5500 has 3 slots for memory.
H236F for the T7500 has 6 slots. Dell doesn't support this part on the T5500.
I've posted some answers on T5500 processors compatibility before at the below threads:

Hello Justin C, Please help a brother out here.I have the same PC that is Dell t5500 and I wanted to know if i can mainly use the processor on the riser alone or is that just for a secondary processor?

Thanks ein63 for clarification. Reason why i was asking is because some processor pins(CPU1) on the said mainboard are bent, I tried to fix them but still have a belief that they not fine because I found like some have a bit of broken ends. I just tried powering it on today and it powers on for some few secs and goes off again. I really want to get it working....
