The fan on my old Dimension E becomes so noisy, so I bought one with model no. AFC1212DE-4K33 last week. But, it seems not to run on my Dimension. Could anyone tell me if the model works with Dell Dimension or not?
Unless it's a Dell OEM fan, you'll get a "fan failed" error each time you boot the system - the Dell fan has an onboard thermistor that is required by the system.
My question is if the fan (AFC1212DE-4K33) in the photo is identical or a functional substitute for AFC1212DE-SP02 which is the original fan in my desktop? At this point, 4K33 does not work in my dimension and I want to know the reason to fix it.

It is a case fan in my view. But, it blows air into the case and directly flow through the heat-sink of the CPU.
I ordered fan with model no. AFC1212DE-SP02 (Dell P/N Y4574), www.amazon.com/.../ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
but I got the item in the photo. I think the item I got is not compatible with Dell Dimension as AFC1212DE-SP02. Is that right?

Is this the case fan or the CPU fan you need?

It probably is (the DE is likely "Dell").
