Unable to set boot sequence after reformat.

After installing my new video card, I decided that it was about time for a reformat just to keep things in order. I reformat, get all my old applications redownloaded, and all my drivers up to date. Now I'm unable to enter setup on system start to change my bootsequence back to normal.

Each time I boot my computer or restart it, I'm always prompted with a choice of operating systems to boot with, both of which list XP Pro. How do I stop that from happening each time I boot up and why won't it let me back in setup?

Assuming that you have a newer Dell model then the F2 key is the one to press to enter the BIOS Setup.  If you are using a USB - wireless keyboard then try switching the port the keyboard is plugged into.  On most of the newer Dell models there is one USB port that is active during boot up and will allow you to use the keyboard to access the BIOS Setup.  Otherwise all the other USB ports are inactive until Windows loads the necessary drivers.

As for the prompt for the dual operating systems.  Click here for a discussion in the Software - Windows XP forum on how to eliminate the problem by editing the boot.ini file.

The settings for the 2 differint windows xp pro are located in c:\boot.ini file.   -note:  this file is usually hidden by windows.

Hi friend ,
The problem you are facing is not because of a problem in the Bios of your computer... Its just a small problem with your operating system ... Ill show you the steps to be followed to get this problem fixed...

Right click on My computer.
Left click on Properties.
Click on Advanced.
Under Start up and recovery , click settings.
Uncheck "Time to display list of operating system " and also uncheck " Time to display recovery options when needed "
Click on ok
Restart the computer...... Problem solved !!!!!
