Using DVI Connection
I have a Dell531, presently connected to a 6 year old CRT monitor.
I would like to upgrade to a flat screen, something like a Samsung 906BW 19".
I am not really a gamer, and I mostly use Microsoft applications and surf the web and occassionaly do some amatuer photo editing.
I don't remember my video card at this moment, but I believe it does not have a dvi connection.
What would the general benefits of connecting the new flat screen to the PC via DVI be?
Am I ok with just connecting the flat screen to PC with the existing CRT to PC connection cord that I have.
I realize this is a bit general inquiry - and so i may get a bit of a general type answer.
In any event, thanks in advance for your feedback.

Though DVI is suppose to be sharper than Analog connection, analog has come a long way from the old days where you can really see the difference. Analog is now better, but DVI to most is still sharper.
You can connect a analog to dvi adaptor to hook up to the new monitor if the monitor does not have both a VGA and DVI input. Many do now except the less expensive one and they only have analog.
Your Inspiron 531 with the Integrated video chip is analog but you can install a nice dedicated video card later if you wish with DVI
