which com port is the serial port

i've just purchaced a back-up power system, loaded the sw, hooked the serial cable to the "|O|O|" jack, and now have to select com 1,2,3,etc. how do I know which one to select?

If you only have one serial port it will be Com1. To be sure, you can go to the Control panel \ system \ device manager, and check out the "ports" section.

Hi, Maybe this will help:
Logical Physical IRQ Device Name

COM 1 3F8-3FFh 4 1st Serial I/O Port

COM 2 2F8-2FFh 3 2nd Serial I/O Port

COM 3 3E8-3EFh 4 3rd Serial I/O Port

COM 4 2E8-2EFh 3 4th Serial I/O Port
