Windows 7 will not wake up from sleep

Dell XPS 8700 BIOS A11 7/9/2015

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

This is a recent problem. Windows will not wake up from sleep mode and when I force a restart Windows appears to start (resuming Windows), but then there is a blank screen and the system is locked up. I have checked all of the power settings and the mouse and keyboard are enabled to restart the system.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Charles

Can we assume you looked at the Power Management tab for every USB root hub and for every  Human Interface Devices in Device Manager to make sure the box "All PC to turn off.." is NOT checked?

And have you looked at the Advanced Settings screen for the current Windows Power plan to make sure USB Selective Suspend is disabled?

The boxes "All PC to turn off..." and "USB Selective Suspend" do not appear on my computer. I went over all of the settings again to try to see the problem, but found no solution yet.

I had a problem like this.  In addition to changing items in Power Management (control panel), I had to adjust a parameter in the BIOS.  Now it doesn't sleep the same way, but in wakens normally

This problem was solved by exiting from home network as suggested by an earlier reply. None of the many other things I tried worked. My BIOS has no relevant settings for sleep.

Disable all power-management features, both in the BIOS, and in Windows.  Period.  No sleep, no hybernation.  These mechanisms have NEVER been reliable.  I've purchased dozens of dells for either myself or family and in all cases, I've found this to be the best option.  Do this before you even do the initial windows setup (disable power management in the BIOS), because otherwise it can actually go into hybernation during windows first-time setup.  Yes, I've seen it happen.
