XPS 730 H2C cooling not kicking in on boot

I have a xps 730 h2c and it has been fine until now. I got it a few months after it was on sale. The problem is that all of a sudden when turn on the pc the cooling settings don't seem to load as the pc shuts it self off. It usually takes about three attemps when it randomly decides it does not wont to load the settings.

I use speed fan to monitor the temps and nvidia control pannel to have custom settings/profiles and i am using xp. Does any one know why this has started to happen and what i can do to fix it? Thanks

Hello Scarface,

Good question.  My XPS 730 H2C, QX9650, Vista 64 bit, will sometimes load my preset cooling and sometimes not.  There does not seem to be any pattern on my system.  I generally just open Nvidia Performance and manually load the saved settings when this occurs.

I notice that you are using XP where I am using Vista.  In the past I have blamed the Microsoft automatic updates or the Adobe automatic updates for interfering with the OS, but that is speculation on my part with no proof.

I have not been able to fix this issue, even updating drivers and reflashing the BIOS.

Best,

Darrell WV

Thanks for the info. I would try and load my nvidia settings but usually the system shuts it self off within a few seconds if the settings have not auto loaded. I have just unistalled the nvidia performance tools and will use speed fan on my auto settings for a bit, this worked well in the past but you can not make profiles on my version, that was the only reason I started using nvidia.

Hey Scarface2k3,

Just to let you know, I went over to nvidia drivers and downloaded the new ESA performance software and updated my system, my rig cooling starts right up again without any prompting on my part and my preferences were kept from the previous after the update, so you will not have to enter the performance in order to get it working.  I updated right after my last post to you and have not had any issues since, so it looks and acts stable.

Best,

Darrell
