XPS ONE 24

I just received my XPX ONE 24 and was playing Half Life 2. The games plays great on the system but afyer about 15 minutes of game play, the fan goes to full speed. I assume the computer is getting hot as a result of playing the game. Is this normal and will it hurt the computer.

Thanks

wpieler,
I've had a XPS One 20 for a little over a year. I'm guessing you configured your system with the GeForce 9600M GT since you're playing games like HL2 on it. It's normal for the fan to go to full speed like that, especially when playing a demanding game & considering the form factor of the XPS One. It's basically laptop hardware (minus the CPU and RAM) housed in the casing behind that big widescreen so there's not a lot of room for heat disippation in there. The only ventilation is through the grille on the top.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes,  I have the 9600m GT video card, Will the heat build up eventually damage the system or will the fan keep it cool enough?

No problem. The heat shouldn't damage the system as long as the cooling fan is operating properly. Still, I'd check periodically for BIOS updates, particularly to see if any list system fan modification/enhancement under the fixes section.
