add CPU support to Dell Phoenix Bios
Hi
I have some poweredge 6950 which do not support some socket F opterons ( 8381 HE )
but the same generation poweredge SC1435 do support them.
I think this is only a matter of bios microcode, can someone help me extract the microcode
from SC1435 bios to insert into the poweredge 6950 bios ?
Is there any tools to do that or help ? I found phoenix bios mod tool, but Dell bios seems somewhat differents,
and the tools doesn't recognize .hdr files.
Regards
Nicolas

There are no public BIOS modification tools for Dell BIOS updates.

And to add to theflash1932, the risk of bricking the motherboard is pretty significant. On a server of this age and power, I wouldn't even consider doing something like that yet (maybe in another 3 or 4 years it has become old enough to consider the risk).

Some time ago I did for my Dimension 4700 what you are wanting to do and it worked. I put the CPU microcode for my new CPU into my BIOS (using a hex editor on the .hdr) by replacing one of the 18 existing ones with it and then used DCCU which gave me an .exe that flashed the BIOS.
I also can't open my BIOS' .rom with Phoenix BIOS Editor Pro at all, it always says "No BCPs found!" [:'(]
