Slow computer clock

Question

Brand new Dell Dimension 4400 running XP. Clock loses around 4 hours a night. I'm used to computer clocks having to be reset once a week but is this not ridiculous?

Is Dell shipping computers with bad batteries? Does this even matter since I never shut my computer down?

I also have a new 4300 running XP, P4, 1.6g that loses around 15 mins/day. Not quite as bad as yours but even 2 mins/day is unsat. If you find any resoltuition, please let me know. Vica- versa

Try these:1. Get all Windows XP updates.2. Get all Norton updates.3. Clear NVRAM4. Turn off the internet time synchronization in XP. I had same problem with my 4300 - replaced battery - no help. Finally, I jammed a tooth pick in the battery holder to force the battery against the terminal and that seems to have fixed the problem. (I hope Dell is reading this).

Your 'clock enhancer' is called 'T CLOCK EX' & It is excellent. I have used it for a year on my old computer (compaq with Windows 98). I would dearly love to have it on my new Dimension 8200 with XP but it does NOT say on the download site that it is for XP! Are you using it with XP? & no problem? I think it's totally cool (& free). Everyone should get it! I'm going to wait tho until I'm sure it will work with XP.

With it and rocket clock my clock is as good as my old IBM running Windows 95. Yes, have no fear, there is no problems with it and XP. I have the same problem on my new Dimension 4400.

The clock runs at 2/3 of the correct speed.

It is very easy to observe by double clicking on the time in
the lower corner of the screen then watching the second
hand of the on-screen clock.

When my wrist watch indicates a minute has passed, the clock
on the screen has advanced only 40 seconds.

This would be proportional to yours losing 4 hours during
a 12 hour period.
