U2724DE - problems with Thunderbolt 4 connections

New computer set up.  Dell Ultrasharp 27 U2724DE.  PC is an MSI CubiNUC.  Intention was to connect keyboard, mouse, network cable and run power via the Thunderbolt cable to the cube.  Seemed to work initially but then just would not work.  Monitor kept on reporting it could not find the thunderbolt cable.  Sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't.  Currently running with the mouse, keyboard, network cable, power via the cube and an HDMI cable which is a waste of ports and potential of the monitor.

Have updated the drivers.  Struggling as whilst I'm ex IT staff this is me jumping from a 12 old system to this one and I'm at a loss whether its a faulty cable, or port or even damage to monitor during shipping.  Help would be appreciated.

I have the same issue except that I'm unable to update the software and the monitor has been working fine via Thunderbolt for at least 8 months. I changed cables, laptops, power cables and even changes rooms (different power socket). Nothing works. Such a shame.

@Yedige

Hello, I have the exact same problem as you. I’ve been searching online for hours and found nothing.

I’ve been working with two DELL 27 U2724DE monitors for about a year, both connected to my Mac. From time to time, the main monitor wouldn’t send a signal to my computer—I just had to unplug the Thunderbolt cable and reconnect it, and it would work again.

But this week, one of the monitors stopped working completely. The Thunderbolt ports don’t work anymore, and the 90W port no longer provides power to my laptop. It’s so frustrating.

I connected my laptop to the second monitor, and all of its ports are working fine. I did find a workaround to get the damaged monitor working—via HDMI. The HDMI port on that monitor still works. So now, I connect my MacBook to the working monitor, and on that same monitor, I use a USB-C to HDMI high-speed cable to get both monitors working again.

I don’t know what happened to the main monitor—the Thunderbolt ports are completely dead. It’s not a firmware issue. I had the latest version (M2T105 for Mac), then rolled back to M2T103, but no luck. The second monitor that’s working has firmware M2T101. I won’t upgrade it—I have no idea if that’s related to the problem. I tried to find the M2T101 driver to install on the broken monitor to test, but I couldn’t find it. Such a shame.

I think I’ll take the faulty monitor to a service center in my city—we have a lot of good technicians here. Maybe the Thunderbolt ports are just physically damaged.

Did you manage to find a solution?

Did a bit of juggling of what was plugged in where.  Better but not perfect.

PC Power - now using own direct power source.

Router cable, web cam and printer - directly plugged USB ports on cube.  Main reason for using the Thunderbolt cable was to take max use of USB ports

Thunderbolt cable - now plugged into a thunderbolt port on the cube which does not include power.

Mouse, keyboard and speakers now running successfully plugged into the ports on the monitor.

Monitor still refuses to connect from time to time but I'll work on it.  Also dealing with the Win 11 reboot after shutdown issue which doesn't help either as I suspect the monitor scanning for a connection causes the reboot.  Trying various options with that including those suggested by Dell.

@GerardoArias Sorry for a late reply.
No, I haven't been able to find a solution. I just got a type C to hdmi adapter. Which is bad since the whole point was not having extra cables. My local DELL reseller refused to accept the fault and charged me 350 usd for repairs.
Never buying DELL again.
Have you found a solution?

@user_b8e550 i still believe it's a hardware issue, but please say I'm wrong :(
The monitor itself is not even that great. The whole point was having 1 cable to my laptop and semi passable 120hz IPS panel.
Not getting DELL ever again.
