DX 6.30.200 Patch 3 Extended Drive offline

Extended Drive filled up and is now offline. There is non DX managed media on ther but I can't delete or move due to access denied error. Any way to get around this and get the drive back online? I see that PreventFileDelete is on in the registry. Thx!

*Disclaimer: This information is provided to be used at your own risk.

I think you can stop the DxSpy filter by doing the following

- Stop the DiskXtender service and Extended Drive Resource

- In the Windows Services console, set the startup mode for those sevices to 'Disabled'.

- Stop the DX spy Drivers: a) DXSpy filter driver and b) DXSpyRec Recognizer driver. TO DO this Go to Device manager - Click view - Show hidden Drivers - (unser Non-Plug and Play drivers) Right click on DXSpy Filter->Properties->Set the Startup mode to Disabled. Right click on DxSpyRec Recognizer Driver->Properties->Set the startup mode to 'Disabled'.

- Reboot the Server.

- delete the files

- Start both drivers referenced in Step 2. Go to Device manager - Click view - Show hidden Drivers - Right click on DXSpy Filter->Properties->Set the Startup mode back to 'Demand'. Right click on DxSpyRec Recognizer Driver->Properties->Set the startup mode back to 'Demand'. On the 'driver' tab(in Driver properties) for both drivers, click on 'Start'.

- In the Windows Services console, set the startup mode on 'Automatic'.

- Start the DX service and the Extended Drive resources.

Hope this helps and if it does that you award me the points

In DX right click on the extended drive, click properties, go the options tab and make sure 'Prevent file delete' = No

Have you tried stopping the DX services and then deleting content?

Hello and thanks for your reply. I did shut down DX service and try to

move/delete, but still get the access denied error. I was told about DxSpy

Filter driver, but not sure what that is.

Thanks the drive is offline so I cannot see the properties. But it does have

preventfiledelete=yes in the registry.

Hi,

Can you please restart the DiskXtender server once before you try the above steps to disable the driver? Also driver should be disabled only to delete the unmanaged files. Please do not delete the managed files as it will result in data loss.

Thanks,

Priya

aala2007,

Thank you very much for the helpful information. Your procedure worked perfectlly. We now have room on the drive and fetches are working again.

Yes we did try that and did not work. We are only moving non-DX files.

Thanks!
