Dell Command Monitor - proxy

In the 10.10.1 users guide for Command Monitor, it states that Command Monitor by default uses the default proxy from IE (Internet Options in Control Panel):

We have a proxy set up in the Internet Options panel, but Command Monitor doesn't pick it up. And when we manually refresh the warranty details, it doesn't work.

However, when I manually set the proxy settings in Command Monitor, it refreshes fine.

I am wondering if there is a bug with Command Monitor picking up the default proxy settings.

I will note we've been using the same proxy setting and settings for years with other applications without issue.

Dell Command Monitor isn't automatically picking up the proxy settings from Internet Explorer, despite your manual setup working fine. Here are some concise steps you can take to troubleshoot this:

  1. Check Compatibility: Make sure Dell Command Monitor is up to date and compatible with your current operating system and version of Internet Explorer.

  2. Review Permissions: Ensure that Command Monitor has the necessary administrative rights to access system settings.

  3. Examine Proxy Scripts: If you use a configuration script for the proxy in Internet Explorer, verify that it's accessible and functioning correctly.

  4. Look at Logs: Review the logs from Dell Command Monitor for any error messages or clues.

  5. Contact Dell Support: If the issue persists, contact Dell support. It might be a known issue with a solution or workaround.

  6. Manual Setup as Workaround: Continue setting the proxy manually in Command Monitor as a temporary workaround while you seek a more permanent solution.
