Same recommended updates keep appearing

Hi all - Dell Client System Update keep showing the same recommended updates as available even after they have been installed and the laptop rebooted. Why is this?

Thanks
Glenn

I'm having the same problem on a number of models. I've been running the Dell System Update on a number of laptop models, after completing a re-image, in order to verify if any packages requires updating. (Note that I've used all the latest drivers during the installation, so no updates should be needed. After noting the ones that were flagged for update, I've integrated the driver packages as applications in MDT2010, on the off chance that they aren't being properly injected during installation. Re-ran the deployment and verified that all the applications were installed. Scanned using the CSU and found 3 required updates, even though they were already installed. Allowed the DSU to install them anyway, but they still show up as required, after a reboot and a new scan.

Right now I'm working on an Windows XP installation on a E6420. 3 updates are showing up : Intel Unified AMT 7 Management Interface Driver, O2Micro OZ600XXX Memory card, and Dell Multi-Touch Touchpad. The accelerometer is not being flagged as the other poster mentioned.

I've noticed this behavior on a number of different models, mostly E series, using both Windows XP and Windows 7. The updates varies from model to model. I did not note down the specifics, but can so if it can be of help fixing this issue. I'm very interested in using the DSU, but not broken as it is now.

I've kept a log of this latest example, but not sure how to upload it.

Same issue with a couple Latitude E6520 laptops. All drivers are updated, but DCSU still reports 1 critical and 2 recommended:
Critical - Intel Unified AMT 7 Mgmt Interface Driver
Recommended -
Dell Wireless WLAN 1501 Half Mini-card (4313BGN)
Dell Multi-Touch Touchpad

I have tried to clear logs and rescan, but it doesn't appear to change anything. Same three updates.

Thanks!

I also have the same issues with a Dell Latitude e6420. I keep seeing several already installed updates - 4 total.
Would be great, if Dell could fix this.

DELL - this has been dragging on for over 2 months now. When is this going to be fixed? It is taking too long and the fix is overdue.

"DELL - this has been dragging on for over 2 months now. When is this going to be fixed? It is taking too long and the fix is overdue."
Agreed. All of these issues are repeatable. There is no point in collecting more data. As much as i appreciates Warrens continued involvement in the thread, we have reached a threshold here. I will be contacting my account rep about this today. I would strongly suggest anyone else watching this thread do the same.

Warren- Again, thank you for your time on this. I believe at this point the only helpful action would be an official response to this issue by someone who owns this project. If they dont already have a login to the Dell Enterprise Technology Center, please let them know it is very easy to sign up.

I also would like to support this opinion. DCSU never worked properly for me. When I first bought my e6420 2-3 months ago, it would not recognize/support my computer at all. And then some 2 months ago it started working, but it keeps now recommending the same updates over and over...
It should be easy for Dell to fix these problems.

I appreciate your honest feedback. The dev teams are working on this, and I've forwarded your latest responses to them along with a request for an update on these issues.

Hi Warren - what's happening? I reported this issue two & a half months back, and experienced it weeks before that. There must be hundreds of thousands of users/computers affected. Why is a fix taking so long?

Thanks

I don't have an ETA from the dev teams for a corrected catalog. I've asked for another update.

I'll throw my had in. Installed this utility the other day. It continues to detect Intel AMT and and older TouchPad package. Verified that both of these packages are at the latest revision levels.

The dev team is working on the issues and expects a new catalog to be release in about 2 weeks.

Dear Warren
I am following this thread because we experience the same issue on our three E6520 laptops.
We have:
INTEL UNIFIED AMT 7 MANAGEMENT INTERFACE DRIVER
INTEL INTEL(R) WIFI LINK 6300
DELL MULTI-TOUCH TOUCHPAD

Any news on the new catalog release ? We're over a week past the two weeks now.

This was first reported in this thread on 18 Jun. It is now 3 1/2 months later. It is reported in many other places too. Why is Dell not reponding as promised? This is unacceptable Dell.
Please commit to delivery by a believable date.
