I see that you also posted the same question on Dells community forums. That is more fitting arena for these types of questions since delltechcenter is a site for enterprise technology and the vostro line doesn't really fit that description.

Windows 7 hasn't been released yet so it's not unusual that Dell (and others) haven't put up beta drivers on their homepage since they should probably cause more trouble than helping those who are trying out Windows 7. Microsoft should be able to supply your with pretty much every driver you need. There is no distinct advantage of getting drivers from Dell since they are often just repacked drivers from the company that manufactured that particular hardware for the laptop. Regarding your nVidia GeForce 8400M GS I'm sure you can grab nVidias beta driver for Windows 7 to address that potential problem. I would suggest you use Windows Update to make sure that Microsoft doesn't have a driver for your memory card controller. If not, the driver for Vista will probably work since the driver subsystem on Windows 7 is pretty much identical to Vista.

The 1500 was not sold with Win7, so it's not a certainty that we will post drivers for it. Sorry for any inconvenience. Your best bet will be to check Nvidia and Ricoh (or other sources like a Google search) for drivers.

i know it was not sold with windows 7 because windows 7 is not out yet but i would think since so many people will want to upgrade to windows 7, dell should offer updated drivers when windows 7 comes out officially to the public. I am sure that dell will be selling windows 7 besides selling their computers or at least an upgrade from vista to windows 7. I am hoping to convert this vostro to windows 7 or for me the laptop will be useless because i use it strictly for my business in giving seminars. Since it is only a year and a half old i would hate to have to purchase another laptop if i cannot get updated drivers.
