automounting multiple VIPs on equilogic
I have setup a 7600 with two VIPs, one for each controller. Each controller has an LACP trunk to my client switch.
I am curious on any suggestions for setting up an automounter.
I have setup an export for a given NAS container.
The same export is mountable from each VIP, what is the recommendation on how to setup the automounter? do you just add two entries for each export (one for each VIP) or is there a better way to do this?
what happens on controller failover? Does the VIP migrate to the second controller or does it go away? Will the mount go stale or will they recover automatically?
Thanks..
Tim

Thanks Don,
I have gotten conflicting input on this. The network this is going into is pretty simple, it is not multi-tenent.
I may be not understanding something, but having a VIP for each NIC seems to be overkill if the NFS clients are all mounting the same set of NAS containers.
I also went the LACP approach as bandwidth from our build servers is important. the switches are only 1G, so aggregating multiple links together would seem to improve performance.
Can you explain the benefit of having a VIP per NIC? or point me at something that explains it?
Thanks for your guidance on this.

Hi Don,
I only have about 10 or so unix servers that will mount NFS exports. How is this typically handled? Does each have to be manually "assigned" to one of the VIPs?
Is this change something that can be done post NAS cluster create or does the whole configuration have to be redone?

The NFS traffic will come from 3 or 4 different subnets. All of the L3 interfaces are on the same switch as are all the NFS clients.
