Creating Member on 1 storage

Hi,

we just brought a ps6110x storage with 7 ssd and 17 sas10k i configured it nicely i gave member ip adress and group ip add. with same sub. and i gave management ip  adress using diffrent sub. i used to diffrent way to configure it, first one i use Cli with setup command then i found the remote setup wizard. it was usefull, at the frist  configuration , remote setup wizard found to my storage  and i configured it but when i tried to rescan it   for  creating another group member   nothing happening  RSW couldn't find.

I need to create 2  diffrent raid6 because i have to spare ssd disks

Thanks.

İ couldnt understand clearly. does this storage has a few array ? i have one 6110x i guess it has 1 array i need to  create 2 diffrent  raid  can i do it or  not.  if yes how can i do. RSW cant find it after configuration i reseted it 5 or 10 times and i'm still trying to do this. After frist  configuration  with RSW , i 'm tring rescan  using  with RSW,  it cant find ps series.

With Equallogic you cannot create 2 different raid sets/types on a single unit. You'll have to purchase a second Equallogic unit and set that one up with the other raid type.

Note: With a hybrid unit (combination of HDDs and SSDs), you can only pick raid 6 accelerated for the raid option.

ONE pyhs. EQL Array "lives" in a "pool" within a "Group" and have exactyl ONE raid level which you can choose.

In 5 Years i never used the Remotewizward so i cant help there but... at first the remote Wizard only detects the EQL on the iSCSI Ports which is eth0. If you enable the optional mamagement maybe thing goes different now. iam not sure if the remote wizzard now need access into your mgmt network or into the iscsi one.

Plugin the serial and run "setup" from the console is a 60 second job and about 30sec for the following members because the group already exists. But if you already setup the unit there is no more need for the remote wziard or the console. All what you need is to connect with your browser to https://your_mgmt_group_IP/ and use the GroupManager.

If you would like to reset the array (ALL DATA LOST) back to factory defaults you will find an "reset" in the GroupManager GUI (last tab) or on the command line.

Regards,

Joerg
