delete VM on Vsphere but volume size not decrease
Hi all,
I have volume name ABC with 2 TB on Equallogic PS6000 mount on ESXI 5.0.1 , VM use thin Provisioning
When i delete from Disk VM , but volume size not decrease .
I dont understand and how i can decrease volume size when i delete a VM .

Do you have 5.0 or 5.1?
As part of the VAAI Featureset EQL supports together with the right ESXi version the UNMAP/STUN feature which can reclaim unused space. After the release VMware enabled it by default and this was revoked later because it can be cause problems. So you have to check your ESXi configuration.

Btw. the VAAI is only available with vSphere Enterprise or later and a recent EQL FW is needed. How to use it changed trough ESXi Versions and it doesnt work automaticly!
