No downtime needed and no controller failover. The FW kit checks if there are Disks which needs a FW update or not. If disks exists it will be update one disk after nother. For a 24 disk member it tooks a minute or so.
I run a couple of FW 4 and FW 5 Kits in the last years and never got a problem there.
This is why i prefer to use the FW Drive kit first.... but it doenst hurt if you upgrade PS/SANHQ first. On the FW drive kit webpage there is also a PDF linked. Just take a look.. its a 2min job.
- Transfer the *.tgz with FTP/SCP
- Login trough ssh directly to a member and tye in "update"within a low IOPS period of time.

Any sequence on what to update first EQL Firmware or Drive first ?
I already have updated some unit to 7.0.5. Looks drives are behind on firmware SANHQ is emailing

Is there any downtime to update drive firmware ?. I mean restarting restarting controller or unit ?

No, its not included.
You have to apply it directly on the member (not the group) from command line.

Yes we use SANHQ 3.x.
Few of our PS 6500 have Hitachi Drives Hitachi HUA721010KLA330. How i can update those?
