EqualLogic PS4000X unable to access Group Manager
Hello, I'm having a problem when trying to launch the group manager applet where it is giving me this error message. I'm unable to access the group manager from the Web UI or the desktop applet. I saw a similar thread but there wasn't a resolution to fix the issue, I tried disabling TLS 1.0 in the Java settings but that didn't work.
I would like to check the error logs on the appliance, I am able to access it via CLI but don't know the commands to check the logs this way.
No Events found!

Hi @GRattu,
I think this is because Oracle has deprecation of the Java browser plug-in, hence you might be having this issue.
Try this alternative: https://dell.to/43nxe1j

You also might try lowering the security level of Java
Security level settings in the Java Control Panel
But I would suspect installing an older Java Runtine Environment would work also.

Hello,
What version of EQL FW is installed? I suspect and older version that is not compatible with more recent versions of the JAVA runtime.
At the CLI you can do CLI>show recentevents Which will display all events at every level.
If you have SANHQ installed you can also view all the messages there. Sort or filter them by level. INFO,WARNING, ERROR
You could also set up a syslog server to accept messages from the group.
Regards,
Don

Hi Don, when I run that command it comes up blank. I've tried a few different commands to check the status of this SAN and I've found that the pool and volume info are coming back as blank as well. I'm also seeing the following error message:

Hello,
Thank you. That RAIDset has failed. You have three failed drives and RAID6 can only tolerate two drives failing. That F/W is very old as well.
I suspect it is not still under contract?
Depending on where you are, you can open up a support ticket and pay for a one time support case.
That would not include parts.
CLI>support exec "diskview -j"
CLI>support exec "raidview"

Don

Hello,
Thank you for the messages. This is a very different problem. That member is offline. I suspect from too many drive failures have taken then RAID down.
CLI>support exec "uname -a"
CLI>support exec "raidtool"
Please send the output of those commands.
Regards,
Don

Hi, the appliance is no longer under contract. This appliance is no longer in use but I'd like to recover any data I can from it. Is the group manager unavailable when the RAIDset is in a failed state? Am I able to get a newer version of the FW without opening a support case?

Sorry about that, didn't know that images don't show up on the forum immediately. Here's the results of the running support exec "uname -a"
Also here are the results from the image I had previously posted:

Hello,
It takes time before attached images are displayed in the forum. I can't see the error at this time. Can you past the text? Do you know what FW is installed? You can try CLI>support exec "uname -a"

Don

Hi,
Recovery as-is is not possible. It would have to get back to at least a degraded state to get the volumes online.
Things you can try are power down the array for 2 minutes. Reseat all the drives. Power back up and see if the last failed drive comes back online. If so, then put as little strain on it as possible.
Otherwise, you would likely have to send it out to a recovery service. Then you will have to buy EQL certified drives. Standard OEM, or even Dell drives from other products will not work on EQL array
Re: Firmware. The support license it also the software / firmware license.

Don

Hello,
Sorry I didn't answer your GUI question. No, the GUI is a Java applet downloaded from the array. That applet is stored on the array, not on the compact flash card. Even if you could access it, you would get the results you saw at the CLI. No data. The Database that info is read from is also on the RAIDset which is not online.
Regards,
Don
