HIT 5.4 with Firmware 9.0.3?
I have a three node Windows 2016 cluster that I would like to update to 2019. The compatibility matrix says I'll need HIT 5.4 to work with 2019, and that I would need to upgrade the firmware to at least 9.1.x (PS6100) to support HIT 5.4. However...the release notes for HIT 5.4 say it works with firmware 9.x and later.
So...does anyone know if HIT 5.4 will work with firmware 9.0.3? I would prefer to not upgrade the firmware if possible.

Hello,
There is no way to know if that will work or what issues you might have. That firmware is way too old for that version of HIT kit. 9.0.3 dates back to Oct 2016! There are so many reasons to upgrade to 10.0.3. Fixes, enhancements, security, etc.. Stability is improved a well. Upgrade then try that HIT kit.

Don,
Thanks for the feedback. Fair point on the age of the current firmware.
This is an older cluster and I'm currently having an issue with one of the nodes (not related to the san). I may have to reload the os on that node, and was hoping to start migrating the cluster to 2019. However, it's snowballing into a larger project. I'll probably just reload 2016 for now until we can schedule a maint. window for the firmware update.
Thanks again for your help,
Scott

Hello Scott,
You are very welcome. Hmm.. I'm not sure 9.0.x supported Server 2016. 9.0.x only supports up to HIT v5.1. I think 2016 support came with 9.1.x. Since that supports up to HIT v5.4.x.
Also, once at 10.0.3., download the drive firmware kit. Make sure all the drives are up to date as well.
Good luck!

Don
