RAID-50 to RAID-10 without losing IP based access?

I have two 6000xv's I want to convert to raid-10 that are currently raid-50. I am familiar with resetting back to factory default's but is it possible to do this remotely without needing to be at the san's with a console to go through the setup process again? I would like to only reset to raid-10 (removing the current volume structure) without redoing ip's, etc. This data centre is remote.

canada-it,

No, this is not possible.  The reset command will wipe out all the configuration information.

Note: If an array is a member of a multi-member group, ensure that you use the "member delete" command instead to remove the member from the group.  After the member is deleted it will automatically run the reset command.  This will ensure that all arrays in the group will simultaneously delete the proper information about the departing array.

To remotely re-configure the member you would need to setup a remote Host with two serial sessions to the array (one for each control module, since you are not guaranteed with one will be the active control module after the restart).  Then you can reconfigure the array.

Regards,

Joe

Thanks. This is what I suspected but I was hoping I was simply missing something. This is NOT convenient for those of us who have multiple arrays at remote data centers half way around the world. I can understand having console cables connected from the san to a system to manipulate with in the case of a single unit perhaps. This does not work however for those like us that have five members in one rack. 10 serial cables connected?
