actually what I am trying to do is to modify a member from raid 5 to 50 but looks like I will have to delete it first.

I have moved all data off it. How do I modify the RAID from 5 to 50? I cannot delete the only member

Unfortunately, there is no way to convert directly from RAID 5 to RAID 50 (this is listed in the Group Administrators Guide).  There are two RAID types that can't be converted to any other type (R5 and R6-Accelerated).

The only way to convert to RAID 50 is to remove the member (i.e., delete member) from the group, and run setup again for the new RAID policy you require, and reconfigure the array.

Since you indicated that this is a single member group, you MUST backup the data first (the removal of the member will wipe out all the data and configuration on the array).   However, you can save the array configuration using the steps outlined here: support.equallogic.com/.../solutions.aspx (support login account required).  Once logged in to the support site, search for “save-config” and you should see the KB titled “ARRAY: Using the save-config command to save and restore system configuration”

And the only way to delete the member and run setup again is with serialcable?

Its a single member (PS5000) and I want to delete the member and replace it with a new one with RAID50.

Please tell me the steps I should follow. I'm not very comfortable with SSH/Telnet...

Ok, thanks.

And this is not possivle to do in any other way then with serialcable? If I do it with Telnet it will delete my IP-configuration and I will loose contact and not be able to setup again?

OK, but will the SAN keep its IP settings even after reset? Or how do it connect to it?

The SAN is connected with three cables from the control module to a switch and I have a 2008R2 server connected with three cables to the same switch. Will that be enough to get contact after the reset?

I'm a little bit worried about it because I'm 55km away from the equipment :-)

What cables do you mean? Is there any else then network or serial?

Does it communicate at some specifik interface or will it be listening for contact at both interface? (control module) I dont have all the cables connected in one of the interfaces at the moment.

Are you really sure I need all the three cables attached to get contact after reset? I know I need them later for failover and firmware but at the moment I can only have one connected in the secondary controller and thats enough for firmware upgrades and redundancy, I've tested it.

Will the active controller when reseting be the active controller even after the reset?

Better safe then sorry? :-)

I connected with putty and reset (DeleteAllMyData) the SAN and now I cant discover it with Remote Setup Wizard.

"Arrays must be powered and on the same Ethernet segment as this computer"

What does same Ethernet segment means? There are no ethernet segment at the array after reset?
What can I do to get contact besides connecting with serial cable?

The one cable is not bad, I runned the SAN at that only cable a few days ago.

Can I run the setup with a serialcable instead of RSW if I dont get it working?

New setup was done by serial cable and RAID-level set to RAID50.

Thanks for your information.
