Restripe to RAID 5
Hi all,
I have a 4000 series Equallogic raid 10. Can i restripe to raid 5 without taking down the SAN? What is the best procedure to gain more space. CAn i just move to a NAS, restripe, then move data back? Is it really that simple?

In recent Firmware Versions Dell have remove the RAID5 option. This means that you cant choose this option when using the EQL Groupmanager which is the GUI you normaly use for managing your EQL.
But with command line voodoo you can set the raid level you want.
With all of our 16 disk EQLs we choose RAID50. This means you get the capacity from 14 disk and a total of 2 disk group. With some luck Mr. Murphy choose disks from different raid groups when it comes to a double disk failure.

Thank you DON. I have 450GB x16. What is a GUI option? and what is group CLI ( unfarmiliar with that).
