The use of the term partition with the MD3000 and MD3000i may not mean what you think it does. Here is the definition from the online help from the MDSM utlity:

Storage partitioning is a base feature of the . A is a logical entity that uses one or more that can be accessed by a single host. It can also be shared among hosts that are part of a host group. The first time you map a virtual disk to a specific host or host group, a storage partition is made. Subsequent virtual disk mappings to that host or host group do not make another storage partition

Are you using the MDSM GUI utility? Can you be more specific about when you are getting the error?

Thanks - Todd

Storage array: Unnamed
Status: Allowable partitions exceeded
Partitions allowed: 64
Partitions used: 0

What Caused the Problem?

The Storage Partitioning feature is out of compliance because the current number of partitions exceeds the number of partitions allowed for this storage array.

The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information

Please call Dell Support as there are no user configurable options regarding Storage Partitions on the MD3000.

Simply that no one on this discussion forum, or the Dell support forum, will be able to provide a setting or option that will resolve what is being reported.

I would recommend you contact Dell Technical Support for this issue.
