AIX 5.3 - HBA and device settings

Question

Hello guys,

does anybody tweak their default settings on AIX connected to DMX/Vmax, specifically these settings:

num_cmd_elems (200)

max_xfer_size (0x100000)

queue_depth (16)

max_transfer (0x40000)

I have a mixture of IBM FC6228, FC6239 and FC5758 HBAs. Looking throug the latest "Host connectivity guide for AIX" i see some mentioning of 2048 for num_cmd_elems and 0x1000000 for max_xfer_size but it seems like it's only for systems connected to Clariion and not Symmetrix. What does EMC recommend for the above settings ?

Dynamox. These values - as you see consistently throughout documents, is for Clariion active/passive only.. On a DMX/VMAX - and because of an active/active situation, it is recommended to leave the default values that come with the EMC ODM definitions.. That is why you can't find this information. Hope this helps you..
