Adding a 8TB SATA to DELL E520
I need to add a 8TB SATA onto my existing Precision E520 which already has 2 drives in it. I tried unplugging the DVD drive cable and plugging it into the new SATA. When I try configuring the BIOS, it won't pickup the new 8TB. Suggestions?

There is no Precision E520. The only Dell "E"520 I find is an old Dimension E520.
Please confirm the Dell line and model number.

Sorry, that is correct. It is a DIMENSION E520. I have found documentation that states that the box/board can handle up to an 8TB drive. I have tried a different SATA cable too. It has the 2.4.0 BIOS updated.

I figured Dimension. I had a similar model E510.
Clear the CMOS memory (BIOS) and see if it picks up the SSD. With the power off, remove the CR2032 coin cell battery on the motherboard for at least 10 minutes. Reinstall the battery and power on and see if the BIOS will pick it up. If not, connect it to the Primary Hard drive (what the BIOS defaults to) and see if that will work.
It may just be a hardware limitation on this model. You can't go by the published Intel chipset spec's as Dell does custom implementation of most Intel chipsets. For example, the Intel published specs for the E510 says it will accept up to a D965 CPU but the Dell implementation will only allow up to a D945. If a D965 is installed it will not boot and gives a POST error.
