Can't play CD/DVD's

Can't play CD/DVD's on my Inspiron 3670 desktop. When I insert a CD/DVD nothing happens. I believe I have windows 10.

Look to see if you have Windows Media Player (wmplayer.exe) installed or Dell may have provided some Cyberlink software to play audio CDs and DVD. Open one of those before you insert the disc.

If the disc doesn't start playing automatically with the app open, open File Explorer, find the listing for the disc, right-click and select Play.

Otherwise you may want to install VLC media player (free).

If you still can't get it working, put a data CD (not a commercial music CD or video DVD) in the drive. Then reboot and start tapping F12 when you see the Dell splash screen. When the F12 menu opens, look for option to run the diagnostics, including for the CD drive. Copy error message(s), if any... NOTE: you'll get an error message from the diagnostics if there's no disc in the optical drive or you insert the wrong kind of disc.

@Avantidrive  Be specific!

What exact PC model and what version of Windows?

What are you trying to do, play a CD or DVD or burn a CD or DVD...?
